Shibui Japanese restaurant is a local family owned restaurant right in the neighborhood. It has been a hidden treasure since 1981. It did not take long to notice it after their great reviews and awards including City's Best sushi from AOL. Shibui not only keeps its traditional Japanese cuisine but it also has incorporate many fusion style dishes. This trendy local Miami restaurant has created original rolls like the Luisiana, Caliente, and Margy rolls that are now found all over other local Miami restaurants. The service there is top notch and their extensive menu offers many specialty rolls and fusion dishes.
One of their popular fusion dishes is a Japanese twist on the popular Peruvian ceviche. It is called “Japeruvian Ceviche” and I gave it a try since ceviche is one of my favorite dishes. Shibui added a spicy twist to the traditional ceviche. The plate was good for a change and a nice addition to their extensive menu. Even though they made kanisu in a salad style we wanted it to be in a cucumber roll and they went the extra mile and made it to our taste.
We were very happy with our dinning experience at Shibui, it is a great trendy local Miami restaurant. Some things you need to know that come with a trendy Miami restaurant are slightly higher prices and a longer wait. It is worth the wait and much better than waiting over an hour at big chain restaurants I’m not going to name names but it’s some sort of “Factory” and the prices are just as high. Shibui suggests making reservations, I suggest to do so on the weekends more than during the week. I walked in on Wednesday night this week and waited only a few minutes. If you don't want to wait call ahead to see how packed they might be. I also suggest requesting to sit upstairs because there is recessed seating with pillows for a change which I find adds to the experience, but taller people may not have much room for their legs upstairs.
If you do not normally chose to spend a lot on dinner save Shibui for your next special occasion. I know it is worth the money and I’m sure once you try it that won’t be your only visit. My dinner was delicious as usual and the location is also perfect for me. It's a great Miami Restaurant.
